At Public Partnerships | PPL  the health and safety of self-directing program participants, their representatives, and their care/support workers remain our top priority. As you know, our role (PPL) is to help self-directing program participants to prepare to be and perform the role of an employer to their care/support workers.

As you know, our role (PPL) is to help self-directing program participants to prepare to be and perform the role of an employer to their care/support workers.  We ask that all care/support workers are in regular touch with their employer on the latest, changing situation with COVID-19 to make sure continuity of care and support remains.   We understand the important work you do, and we’ll be working behind the scenes to make sure you get paid correctly and on time, and new employees and employers are enrolled in a timely manner. For more helpful information, please click on our Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) link or if you are worried, please feel free to speak with your employer or reach out to us.

This year, we’re encouraging all our families and caregivers to take extra steps to be alert during this peak flu season and among the growing concerns around Coronavirus or COVID-19.  We recognize the uncertainty that Coronavirus (COVID-19) may be causing. This situation will remain under review and we will continue to provide regular updates.

Here are some of the best practices stated by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) to help keep you, your families and others stay healthy this season:

  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Wash your hands often and with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the restroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing even when you use a tissue.
  • To help kids understand how long they should be washing their hands, 20 seconds is about the length of time it takes to sing Happy Birthday twice.
  • If soap and water are not available to wash your hands, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with 60-95% alcohol.
  • Do not touch your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Do not have close contact with people who are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean touched surfaces and objects often.

Protecting yourself and the person you care for from catching diseases on the job requires knowing the facts, practicing good self-care, and taking a few safety measures. Please continue to check our website and program pages on advice in keeping you safe!
